The October gathering of the Tummer 4-H Calf Club brought together young members to discuss project progress and upcoming fairs. Leaders noted attendance and planned demonstrations, with members sharing calf care tips and fundraising ideas.
Community notes report visits to residents including D Rink at his home and Mrs W D, with greetings to Eunice Jolliffe, Clifford Ayer, and Margarge Luchuk for October birthdays. Thanksgiving services at United Church were led by Rev Marchant of Gilbert Plains. Upcoming Sunday services move to Deepdale at 1 45 pm. W I and Ladies Aid meetings discussed Bazaar plans for October 28 with a free lunch, and next W I gathering set for November 9 at Mrs C McKenzie’s. District W I Board meeting attended by Mrs C McKenzie.
Mr and Mrs Wm Craven and M M Tripp visited his mother for a few days and motored to Dauphin on Sunday.
Manitoba Technical Institute in Winnipeg announces full time day courses for pre apprentices and indentured apprentices. Eligible candidates aged 16 to 21 with at least Grade X education may apply. Programs include electricity sheet metal refrigeration plumbing plastering painting carpentry auto mechanics shop and bricklaying. Roblin area residents hosted and visited relatives during Thanksgiving week. Families from Shell River, Canora, Winnipeg, Flin Flon, Dauphin and Surfing towns joined gatherings at homes of Guspodar, Andrews, Hanson, Payne and others. A hospital patient at Roblin Hospital underwent appendectomy with wishes for a speedy recovery.
Silverwood residents welcome visitors from Moose Jaw The Pas and Benito and Dauphin with greetings to Jim Irvine Bob Cowan and others. Families including the McGinnises and Armisteads shared weekend visits and friendly exchanges.
TOGO Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vipond and family of The Pas visit town. The Togo Teachers attended a School Convention in Kam sack last Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. A Halliday return from Limerick Saskatchewan. Miss Pauline Densuk visited Mrs. R G Andrews this week. Fowl Supper at Grand Narrows drew many townsfolk last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. F Bowes and Mr. Darcy Jones spend a few days in Winnipeg. Mrs. Veal returned home after time in Kamsack hospital. Mrs. M Tripp visited Dauphin briefly. Joe Hampson of The Pas is in town.
Grand Narrows residents report Beatrice Middleton visiting her grandmother. Mrs J Dixon returns home after a week at Roblin Hospital. The Grand Narrows W I thanks all who helped make the Fowl Supper a success. Miss Evelyn Radford goes to Kamsack for a month with Mrs A Cottonie. Visitors at the Wilsons include Mr and Mrs G Stevens and family of Bowsman, Mr and Mrs P Laliberte, Mr and Mrs W Apple and Jimmy and Mrs Apple.
Mr and Mrs R Henderson joined by Mr and Mrs Ken Boyce traveled to the coast on Friday. Mrs Large returns from Edmonton after a month with her son John. Mr and Mrs Chas Elliott leave for MacGregor with Mrs Large to winter with her daughter at Kenton. Mrs Traub, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Griffith drive to Yorkton. Tom Beck and Evelyn spent the weekend in Winnipeg for a medical checkup. Alec Prokopowich leaves for Winnipeg to join the Mary. Mrs J Van Drecht attends W I District Board Meeting at Russell. The Eastern Star bake sale is set for McLeod's Store on Saturday October 22.
