UNICEF Canada chose five of eight new projects to bring clean water to communities worldwide. The 1976 Habitat conference aimed for universal clean water by 1990, reducing infant deaths from waterborne diseases.
UNICEF asks readers to donate for wells, pumps, and water pipes to villages in need. Small gifts like 50c for salt tablets or 1.00 for worm treatment help many children. 100.00 funds a complete hand pump and shallow well kit.
Claral and Mr B Charles spent three weeks in Jasper Alberta visiting daughter son in law Matt and Mrs Sikkes and also Jim Bangle. Wendell Amyette of Toronto visits Andrew Styba Tony Senderewich and Jim Wele chenko. Harvey Ludwig and family from Stetler Alberta visited Roblin area with Florence Ludwig. Thanksgiving dinner at Roy Cockerill's included Sylvester Linda Yalowoski Florence Ludwig Calvin Ludwig Lyle Ludwig and Calvin Cockerill Jr. from Roblin Merridale Lynn Lake Manitoba and Alberta communities. Tom Burnell and Winnipeg visitors also noted.
Community news covers weekend visits by families from Roblin and surrounding towns, cross country regionals at Goose Lake with Goose Lake teams placing top, yearbooks arriving for 76-77 and 77-78, and awards day results plus Raiders and Angels league game in Dauphin with both sides winning matches.
The group discussed course outlines needing committee approval and encouraged ongoing survey responses from districts. A fire extinguisher demonstration occurred in Inglis on September 30 and may tour Roblin on November 14 or 18. St John’s First Aid in Winnipeg offers an eight hour course at about sixteen dollars per person. A CPR dummy purchase is proposed to support CPR training, with an estimated cost of one thousand dollars, as no unit is available locally.
Readings of applications are underway and courses are being finalized. Inglis offers two sewing classes Merridale-Fit and Finish Drapery. San Clara Roblin-Drapery and Know Your Car await instructor availability.
