A surprise twenty sixth wedding anniversary party for Mr and Mrs Fred Essinger of the Cromarty district was staged at Sam's Dance Spa in the Assiniboine valley on Saturday October 13. Guests from Winnipeg Gimli Landestrew Mac Nutt Yorkton Gartmore and Cromarty attended. The event featured corsage and boutonniers, the Anniversary Waltz, a three tier wedding cake, and a present of an eight piece dinner set to the couple. Albert Tucker presided as master of ceremonies and the gathering closed with the song For they are Jolly Good Fellows.

Employment Outlook In This Area Shows Increase
Ted Teillet, manager of the National Employment Office at Dauphin Manitoba, reports August and September 1962 saw sustained employment in the area including Roblin. Applications declined while vacancies notified rose over last year. Since January 1962, 1079 persons have been placed, up 22 percent from 1961, with 356 registrants for work at end of September 1962 compared with 485 a year earlier.

Canadian cleric wins Upper Room citation at Niagara luncheon
The Right Rev. Dr. James R. Mutchmer newly elected moderator of the United Church of Canada and secretary of its Board of Evangelism and Social Service received a citation from The Upper Room at a Niagara Falls Ontario luncheon held at the Hotel Sheraton Brook. Roblin Council Sets Wage Rate For Sewer Water Work

The first regular meeting of the Senior CGLT was held on Thursday October 4th at 7 30 p.m. in the church basement with nine girls present. The Roblin Women’s Institute sponsors Mrs Vince Reyda for the local school board, nominated by acclamation with duties starting January 1963. Mrs Peter Nowosad has served six years and ends her third term this year. The Institute also awards three silver cups for Grades 8 to 10, with two to be presented at Roblin Collegiate’s graduation on the 27th.

Funeral in Silverwood Church for Joseph Redman of San Clara Manitoba aged 75 after a long illness. He leaves two sons, three daughters, two brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren. Nick Evanisky of Roblin Manitoba age 82 died at Gilber t Plains after long illness. He is survived by wife Helen, two sons, one daughter, and six grandchildren.

About Town Highlights From Roblin Area Visits
Mrs J Adam returned home Sunday after visiting Mr and Mrs E Scott and family at Biggar Saskatchewan. Mr and Mrs Lorne Nicholson of Dauphin visited the Oliphant home last Thursday. Mrs K Freeland visited in Winnipeg the past week. Mrs Wm Cranwell and Mrs H C Cranwell motored to Kelliher Saskatchewan for a weekend with Mr and Mrs J W Haines and family. Mr and Mrs Bill Phillips of Flin Flon Manitoba visited at the home of Mrs 8 Freeland enroute home after visiting their son Billy of the RCMP in Ottawa. Mr and Mrs R Wilderman and Mr and Mrs Wm Bauer motored to Edmonton and Calgary to visit the Bach family in Edmonton, the Sanders family in Calgary, the A Andres family at Wateskawin and the Fisher family at Carnation. They send best wishes to relatives and friends in Roblin.

Winter Snow Today Hits Roblin Homes
On Monday October 15 Roblin experienced its first winter snow with a cold north wind. Residents hurried to uncover last season's heavy jackets mitts and overshoes for the children and to rescue cabbages and flowers from the cold snap as they watched the season’s growth shiver.
