MPI posts net income drop amid spike in Manitoba claims
Manitoba Public Insurance reports a six month net income of 8.5 million down from 52.4 million last year as claims costs rise 20 percent to 271 million. Hailstorm on August 21 and higher severity of claims, including 20,591 more reports to 122,193, drive weaker results with investment income at 38 million.
