The Manitoba Co operative Marketing Board offers three scholarships for Economics and Sociology students at Manitoba Agricultural College. Fifty dollars goes to the top male student in cooperative marketing and to the top female student in the same years. residents of Manitoba qualify. Previous winners included Clarence Thomson Meadowdale D M Eleheshen Beaman and Georgina Young Winnipeg.
R. D. Lang of Stonewall Manitoba sent a Mammoth Bronze turkey to Sidney Australia in a World Poultry Congress related shipment. A Bronze Mammoth Tom from the M A C Poultry Department accompanied the batch, marking Manitoba’s second export to Australia.
The Agricultural College Library sent 471 packages of clippings and current articles in the year ending April 30 1927. They provided topics on immigration cooperation the Hudson Bay Railroad the Canadian Senate the Wheat Pool and marketing. The service is free to Manitoba residents.
About 400 girls aged 15 to 20 are reported missing in Chicago and surrounding areas since January. Law officials note most runaways seek success on the dancing stage, with love for prohibited partners, poverty, and other factors listed as motives. many are never heard from again.

The Anglican Church Women’s Association Bazaar and Home Cooking Sale will take place October 29 at Mr Kapey’s Main Street store. Mayor I I Mitchell received peony plants from the Prince of Wales in celebration of Canada’s Diamond Jubilee. plants will be planted at the old school grounds.
Grand Narrows Miss Orth visits Kamsack for the weekend. Mr and Mrs Sloan call on Mr and Mrs Dixon Sunday. Dauphin sister stays four days with Joe Redmond. Alvin McKnight drives cattle to Winnipeg last Saturday. Miss Stockwell of Rockton Ont visits A C McKnight and first West visit. A C McKnight and Miss Stockwell join Mr and Mrs Rogers at Makaroff Sunday.
Twenty years after being a star footballer at the University of Manitoba Dune McCraeway returns from China where he served as a missionary. He will speak at each point on the United Church circuit on Sunday week October 16, inviting attention to present day conditions in China from a former local sports figure.
The Ukrainian Ballet comes to Reblin Friday October 7 showcasing European folk dances in native costumes. Performers display festive Ukrainian dances including wedding and spring numbers for adults and children. A vivid Netelit ch and apporeggues act portray spring gaiety and Cossack warfare humor.
Henry Ford addressed U S ring town publishers at their annual gathering praising the country press as the oldest distinctive publication and a friendly neighbor. He praised its influence and noted Ford Motor Company will continue to use its facilities in the future.

A cyclone in St Louis causes seve nty deaths and $75 million in damage. A young Englishman sought opportunity in the United States, but he now says Canada offers more for the next generation.
A three year Dominion Experimental Station study at Kapuskasing Ontario compared skim milk and beef scrap as animal protein sources for laying hens. Results show no significant difference in egg numbers or cost per dozen between the two feeds, with mineral matter and green feed provided to all hens.
Mr Fraser disposed of a number of fittened steers. Mr and Mrs B Cockerill and Mrs F Culver returned from a visit with retirees at Elkhorn. Fred Culver harvests September strawberries in his garden. The Toronto Freight Office First Aid Team won the Shaughnessy Grand Challenge Cup at Place Viger Hotel on September 21 with 419 points. Weston Shops of Winnipeg placed second with 43 points after competing as western lines champions. A German noble colony may form in Saskatchewan after a visit by titled Germans led by Dr Smidel von Seeberg of Berlin, who already owns land there. The party plans to return to Germany then come back next spring with families and relatives, having purchased one and a half sections of land already.
