Fertilizer use at the Experimental Farm revisited
The article notes renewed interest in fertilizing farm fields, aided by commercial fertilizers. At the Experimental Farm two manure spreaders operate, with manure moved from the barn to field piles. Rotting manure is spread at eight to twelve tons per acre mainly in fall, ploughed under soon after. Moisture and soil drift influence application, but well rotted barnyard manure remains profitable alongside commercial options.
