The return of Minister Brooke Claxton from Australia renews talk on Japans peace treaty and Canada’s Far East interests. He stresses a treaty guaranteeing security against aggression and stable political and economic conditions to safeguard Canada’s Pacific trade and living standards.
Community library hosts Prince of Foxes by Samuel Shellbarger open Fridays 3 to 5 pm. The novel centers on Asare Borgia and his rival Andrea Orsini in a battle of wits with romance featuring Camilla.
A pastorial reflection on choosing the right path in life. It argues that while turning around on a wrong road is possible in travel, the life journey to God cannot be retraced and urges embracing Christian values, neighborly love, and honest labor to foster peace and purpose. It also calls for tree planting and cultural renewal.
In 1947 Canadians are urged to view Seeds of Destiny a wartime documentary on child suffering in war torn lands. The Roblin United Church hosts a one night showing on Oct 5 at 8 30 pm with European Relief offerings to aid needy orphans. Representatives of the European Christian Orphanage will attend.
The Inter Mountain Teachers' Convention will be held in Roblin on Thursday and Friday October 2 and 3. Guest speaker on Thursday evening is A V Pigott formerly Assistant Superintendent of Winnipeg Schools. The public is cordially invited.

Reception at J A Wilson home. The couple will reside in Winnipeg.
Municipal nomination day and election day have been moved up by a month this year to October 11 and 24 due to November weather. Open seats include Ward 2 and 4 councillors in Shell River, the reeve, ward contests in Hillsburg, and mayoral terms in Roblin. Village and school board terms in Roblin and Goose Lake also face elections if incumbents aren’t acclaimed. Your participation is essential to fill vacancies.
Rev J M Taylor invites men to a dinner at 6 pm with a phone RSVP at 27 before 3 pm. If you cannot attend dinner you may still drop in later in the evening. The meeting will end at 830 pm.
Miss Margaret E Shewfelt, Dauphin, who taught in New Zealand last year, says New Zealand youth lack the opportunities seen in Canada. Shewfelt notes NZ is farther from the center, moves slowly, and that term times differ with holidays. She plans to teach in Winnipegosis this fall and recently returned to Canada. The interview appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press.
