Million Homes At Risk From Overfused Fuses In Canada
Fire department surveys across eight communities report about one quarter of inspected homes are over fused. In the Eastern Townships municipality only 15 percent were properly fused. With five million homes nationwide a 25 percent rate implies about 1.25 million at risk. Overfusing uses 20 25 or 30 ampere fuses for small circuits, creating false security and potential wall ignition.

Overfusing Fuses Spark Fire Danger in Prairie City
Fire officials warn that overloaded circuits in older homes cause fires. In a Quebec city study 80 percent of houses are overfused with 30 amp fuses or improvised safety methods. Canada manufactures 20 million fuses yearly, 15 million of 15 amp type. Notices urge 15 amp fuses for safety and advise homeowners to check fuse sockets now.
