Whittier and a speaker reflect on three armies marching through time. Two are past conflicts in two world wars, with sacrifice and loss. The third army is youth marching toward peace, urging Christians to wield love and responsibility to rebuild a shattered world.
In Washington discussions on Britain's electoral setback and Canada's economic approach center on a strictly Canadian economy. The Geneva trade treaties and a new department led by C. D. Howe are cited as steps to boost resources, processing, exports to the United States, and employment.
In mid November 1941 elements of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division and the 3rd Brigade fought along the Sangro River in Central Italy. Canadian patrols pressed through snow covered hills based out of Carovilli and Agnone as German forces destroyed resources on the river’s right bank. On November 16 German shelled Carovilli, then Castel di Sangro saw a fierce clash with the West Nova Scotia Regiment and the 1st German Parachute Division, forcing a German withdrawal. Two weeks later Canadians moved toward the Adriatic front to aid the larger Sangro battle.

Municipal Office minutes from November 5 1947 chaired by Reeve Skomorowski note adoption of prior minutes and multiple by laws including transfer titles to Henry Jans Sl 28 27 23 and NE 34 26 27W. School zone signs approved for Bield and Shortdale. Resignation of Ward 4 councillor Melnychenko accepted. Budget grant request for road work 2500 dollars approved. Crossing closure at mile 52.7 Togo subdivision proposed. Bridge contract for Shell River North 31 27 27 set at 1500. Various payments listed and meeting adjourned.
Trustees met on November 6 to review minutes and approve caretaking bids, set November 11 as a holiday, and accept van route tenders with per day amounts for routes 1 through 17 plus route 8 pending bids. The meeting also authorized tenders for white poplar cards and mileage reimbursements, and payments to several vendors including Gage Co and Beaver Lumber.
Manitoba Registrar of Motor Vehicles R B Baillie announces 1948 plates will be yellow on black and a single plate per vehicle due to steel and pigment shortages. Last year used black and silver. color pigments now secured. Sales start mid December with later notice on low-number reservations.
