Henschell Speaks At Manitoba Credit Union Meeting

The annual District No 6 meeting of the Credit Union Federation of Manitoba was held in Roblin with E Henschell as guest speaker on Chequing Services for Credit Unions. Reports from member unions showed growth in membership and assets as The Pas Credit Union joined, led by E J A Neill and K A Puterbaugh.

Brass Band For Roblin Soon Formed At School Meeting

A Roblin meeting in the Intermediate School led by Mr. D Arcy Mossing and Mr. Reich discussed forming a brass band. Of 88 students tested, 76 qualified and 49 attended the meeting. Bands would require daily practice, rental costs, and shared instruments due to limited inventory, with lessons starting that Friday at the Junior School.

Commencement Exercises Held At Roblin Collegiate

A large crowd gathered in the Roblin Collegiate auditorium on October 27 1962 to honor twenty four graduates. Principal O Ziolkoski presided as chair and welcomed graduates with remarks from P Nowosad Intermountain School Division Board. Richard Hunter gave the valedictory and numerous awards were announced including the Isbister Scholarship and Gold Medal to Allan Maslove. The new student council installation and a departmental-Glee Club program followed before a luncheon to conclude the evening.

Telstar links Paris to Mexico City via New York booking

The first Telstar trans global reservation from Paris to Mexico City via New York was made at 8:15 p.m. Paris time and confirmed by Air France staff in New York. The call traveled from Paris through the Poste Telephone system to a Brittany satellite station, then bounced back to earth via Andover Maine and Air France offices. Musical Festival Interest Grows in Roblin District

Home and School Association forms a promotional committee to organize a Roblin District Musical Festival Association. With 700 Roblin students and numerous neighbors, the group plans a special meeting and executive roles. Visiting speakers from the Marquette Festival Association will share festival experience and raise community participation.

Obituary notices from Roblin and San Clara area

Funeral services were held at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church for Lawrence Nykolaishyn two months old of Roblin who died October 19 in Winnipeg. Interment followed at Parish cemetery with pallbearers named. Also notice for Mrs Mary Travis of San Clara who died October 19 in Winnipeg General Hospital aged 66, with service held at Makarrrof cemetery and Roblin Memorial Chapel in charge. Mary Larocque, born in North Dakota, married Rex Bangle in 1815, later widowed and married William Travis, with six sons and five daughters listed among mourners. An additional death for Albert Bouvier of Boggy Creek on October 20 near Blue Lake, age 52, with funeral at Roblin Memorial Chapel and interment in Parish cemetery. details include family, occupations, and survivors.

Telephones Now Installed In Timber Northcliffe Area

Farmers in the Timber Northcliffe district pursued telephone service with patience. After initial meetings in Timber and Northcliffe schools twelve signed up, later surveys secured support. Manitoba Telephone System installed service on October 26 bringing twenty seven new homes onto the San Clara exchange and service from Roblin Central.

Extension Granted for Soil Conservation Forage Seed Policy

The Department of Agriculture extends the Forage Seed Policy deadline to Wednesday November 14, 1962. The extension follows requests from the Agricultural Representative and delays caused by late harvests in certain regions.
