WEED TREES PROPOSALS FOR PINE FALLS AREA SOURCE
A plywood mill would yield 6.3 percent after taxes on a 775000 investment. A 25000 to 30000 sawmill producing two million board feet yearly would return 12.1 percent after taxes. The plan is separate from a northern Manitoba pulp mill proposal using pine stands. The report notes poplar is underutilized in the prairies and growth far exceeds harvest. J G Somers and C B Gill prepared inventories and a Grand Rapids site report.
