Retires After 47 Years With C N R
ROBLIN May 22 Michael Blahitka of 1st Avenue North section foreman for Canadian National Railways has retired after 47 years in the service. He joined CN in 1922 and has served at many points in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He was appointed section foreman in 1943 and received congratulatory letters from CN officials, including E P Stephenson.

Roblin Kinsmen Club Wins Three Trophies
At the Manitoba Kinsmen District Convention in Winnipeg May 15 to 17, Roblin Kinsmen Club earned three trophies for service, expansion, and efficiency. The club also co sponsored a new Russell club as Deputy Governor Ed Tinkler received a gold watch. Hal Rodgers gave a charter to St James Assiniboia Kinsmen and Roblin eyes the Hal Rodgers National Service Shield in Toronto.

Roblin Horticultural Members Tour Greenhouse May 12
The Roblin Horticultural Society held its general meeting on May 12 at the home of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Andrews with 33 members present chaired by president Jean Van Crecht. Members toured the greenhouse, discussed last minutes and treasury, and eyed a field tour in Riding Mountain National Park in September. Gladioli bulbs were distributed to paid members and raffle prizes awarded to six winners. A talk on showmanship by Bob Arnott followed and a lunch was served by the Social Committee.

The Collegiate inter-room track and field meet on May 19 at the Collegi ate saw 41 of 64 collegiate records broken. 12-D won the best boys trophy while 10 D and 12 D tied for the girls top trophy. 12-D claimed the overall top room. Final divisional standings list Grandview first with 411 points, Roblin second with 379, Gilbert Plains third with 221. zone meet at Bowerman follows, with first and second placers advancing.

School Board Reaches Salary Settlement With Teachers
The Board of Trustees announced on Thursday May 15 that agreement was reached with the Teachers Negotiating Group and that a settlement could take effect January 1 1969 if the full Board approves the proposals. The Board approved the Committee’s recommendations and the new salary agreement is in force. The Board also created an Assistant to the Superintendent position guiding Kindergarten to Grade 8 and is now accepting applications.

Fire destroys Davy farm home near San Clara
Eleven children and their parents, Gordon and Mrs Davy, were left homeless when their farm house 1 1/2 miles northeast of San Clara burned Sunday afternoon around 4. The family saved only their clothes and a washing machine. Clothing sizes are listed and inquiries directed to Carriere at Carriere's Store in San Clara.
