End of Nineteenth Century Drowning Mystery in Duck Mountain
Ernest Cockerill, a renowned woodsman, disappeared last fall while following trap lines on Duck Mountain. Up to 200 men searched the area. his body was found in a lake five miles from his home by Arthur and Tom Cockerill. Police and a coroner determined death by accidental drowning near the lake’s narrow crossing.

Funeral services for Er nest Cockerill were held at Knox United Church Roblin on Friday May 19 with Rev. Dr. Parker officiating. He leaves one daughter Mrs. W Saunders of Fort Francis Ontario and three sons Horace Lorne and Donald. His wife predeceased him by fourteen years.

Tragic Train Death in Roblin kills Mrs Werbowski
Mrs Anastasia Werbowski of Roblin was fatally struck by a west bound CN Rail freight at 3 55 PM while walking along the tracks after visiting Village and Shell River offices to apply for old age pension papers. An inquest is scheduled in Roblin on Monday May 29 at 7 30 PM.
