Opening Day Disappoints Rod and Gun Digest Readers
On Saturday May 12 1973 Rod and Gun Digest opening day failed to impress. Conservation officers in Western Manitoba reported anglers largely found no fish with many averaging one fish per five hours. Low water and dried habitats limited productive spots as fish appeared to have moved or not yet arrived.

Opening day angling mixed with conservation notes across Manitoba
Bright spots on Dauphin Waterhen Valley and Crane rivers contrasted with poor luck at Ochre Turle and other spots. A gill net disrupted efforts, few pikes landed, Gordon Fulford and crew returned by noon. Ducks Unlimited reports better prairie water. geese and ducks arriving early amid concerns over duck disease and dam interference. Observations include riding Mountain Park season, vulture sightings, and a Maritimer police trout success on Kerrs Lake.

Bekays in the Legislature and scattered quips in Regg ie’s Ramblings
A jumble of quotes from Manitoba politics including L Desjardins calling Moog narrow minded and mentally ill, remarks on Stanley Cup finals, Rio de Janeiro police actions, and various jests heard in the Legislature and Stanfard. The snippets mix political heat with satirical asides and mischief.
