The Donor's Choice canvass in 2015 raised 35,581.50 for 17 charities, down about 2000 from last year. The Canadian Cancer Society received 4320 and Roblin District Community Foundation 3693, with many donors contributing at home or at banks and credit unions.
More than 500 locals attended the Mothers' Day pancake breakfast at Roblin Fire & Rescue to support the spring fundraiser. The event showcased a new thermal imaging unit used to help firefighters locate people in smoke. A palm test on the display drew attention to the unit and a factoid noted the outfit cost per firefighter at 14 507 dollars not including training. The department was also called out Sunday afternoon while cleaning up.
