Manitoba expands nurse training with 1.2 million boost
Manitoba increases nursing education capacity by 1.2 million to add 74 more nursing seats across communities. The plan includes 40 new seats from last year, a 12 seat Brandon University program for LPNs pursuing RN or psychiatric nursing, 15 extra LPN seats at University College of the North, a Red River College IEN bridging program for 40 IENs, and a seven seat expansion for the University of Manitoba graduate program. Health Minister Theresa Oswald and Advanced Education Minister Diane McGifford push toward the 2011 100 seat target.
