Lions Cataract Program Achieves Milestone in Swan River
The Lions Cataract Program at Swan Valley Health Centre marks ten years of service expanding access for northern and central Manitoba residents. In early 2022 the province listed a 44 week median wait, the longest in Manitoba, with PMH noting no surgeries in March skewing the figure. The program, born from Lions funding and local advocacy, has completed about 3 004 procedures and aims to keep cataract surgery local to reduce travel and costs.
