Canada to seek WTO talks over mandatory mCOOL policy
Canada will request new consultations at the World Trade Organization over mandatory Country-of-Origin Labelling. CCA President Brad Wildeman supports Minister Stockwell Day’s push, citing U S cattle exports and Canada as top buyer. Canada and Mexico have borne the brunt since mCOOL began in September 2008, with the CCA estimating a $90 loss per head from Oct 2008 to Mar 2009.
