Manitoba farmers at Keystone Agricultural Producers council call for an on farm energy shift. They approve an alternate energy policy supporting ethanol biodiesel wind and biomass development with farmer ownership and local input as core.
Farmers urge alliances with large players to prevent takeovers and call for government backing through policies programs and incentives. They argue a green loan program is needed and stress security of supply and markets for biodiesel and wind ventures to foster local ownership and timely development despite financial pressures.
Constable RJ Daisley reports Parkland RCMP and Roblin joined a Cops for Cancer head shaving event at Dauphin Mall raising over $8000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. He warns drivers to stop for school buses with the stop arm out and to display house numbers for quick emergency response.
