Successful Minstrel Concert Draws Crowd at School Auditorium

A minstrel show at the school auditorium on Friday April 25th drew a hed crowd. The varied program brought laughter and amusement with Ephraim Gleister and Rastus Barber delivering jokes. Singers Tiny Werner, Sambo Miller, and Bastes Barber entertained, while Leppest conducted. The performance featured a square dance, comedy interludes, and a lively chorus, with Mona Yco credited for piano accompaniment.

Deepdale social notes and family visits this week

Mr A C Waters and wife visited Mr Mac Thompsons house this week. Miss Dorothy Powall returned from a city trip last week. Reymond McCorquindate has recovered from a serious illness. Mr Ass Reddick came back from Saskatoon. Asa reports conditions in the Hub city as deplorable. Miss Viola Fillemore returned from Canora and accompanied her parents to Dauphin to visit Master Walter Fillemore, who remains very ill.

Master Herbert Burrell spent Easter at Alva while Mr Gurtis of the Soldier Settlement Board visited the district last week. Mr and Mrs Sloan hosted Mr and Mrs Smalley at Silverwood on Sunday. A. Diamond drove livestock to Winnipeg on Friday. Eva Swartsman returned from Winnipeg after Easter. Howard Wilson accompanied Mr Gleson of Togo to Yorkton and returned with a new McCormick Deering tractor.

Merridale Seeding Increases Amidst Broad Grounds

Merridale farmers plan to boost seed acreage with general seeding now. A. J. McCaulay has not resumed tower duties this spring after years of fire location work. Cockerill’s mill reports another good season, with custom work down due to finance and grain shortfall. Teddy Saunders and Chas Cockerill are noted foreman. Kell Cocker’s hospital return prompted a welcoming concert praising his leg-saving effort.

Seeding progresses but is delayed by weather. The United Church Missonos leaders Breed and Shevlin will start duties on the first Sunday in May. Roblin Council Minutes April Twenty Second 1930 Actions

The Roblin village council chaired by Reeve Rogers with Arnott Thompson Nowasad and McGregor present adopted the prior minutes and approved payments to A J Edwards for assessor wages. They passed bylaws to open a public highway, execute a road allowance lease, and a school trustees bylaw to raise funds for a new school, plus accounts for A J Edwards Dr Drach T H Ward Mrs S M Currey and St Boniface Hospital. The next meeting is May first and the council adjourned.
