Manitoba to enforce overdue fines with garnishment and seizures
Manitoba introduces the first Offender Debt Collection Program to force overdue fines payments. Attorney General Gord Mackintosh says the five person unit will garnish wages seize assets and report arrears to credit bureaus. The program aims to recover 26 million in unpaid fines and includes using collection agencies and prior measures like withholding driver licenses.
