Manitoba hotel owners cheer provincial beer discounts

Roblin Motor Inn owner Brian Van Buren, Manitoba Hotel Association member, says the February announced beer vendor discount plan and license fee cut are a positive response. The program cuts subsidies and rates on domestic beer for small rural hotels, with discounts up to 12 percent on the first 100000 spent, effective April 1, and projected industry revenue gains. He cautions the industry remains financially tight despite gains and cites a 1988 Manitoba hotel survey showing modest net incomes, especially for small inns.
