Deaf student Gerald Zimmer to attend Gallaudet College

Gerald Zimmer, 19, a deaf student at the Manitoba School for the Deaf, is accepted for admission to Gallaudet College in Washington DC, the world’s only college for the deaf. He served as student council president, showing leadership in sports and social events, with a goal to become a teacher of the deaf.

Sixth Meeting of Deepdale Garden Club Held at Jakeman Home

The Deepdale 4H Garden Club held its sixth meeting at Mrs Frances Jakeman's home on June 16. Members practiced judging and weed identification for the Dauphin Rally before the meeting. The bake sale report was given and Gail McIntyre Barbara Klemetski and Karen Mysko sang The Silver Birch. Next meeting is set for June 28 at Mr Art McIntyre's home.

Lutheran Centennial Service at Lake Campbell Camp

Sunday June 25 marked Centennial Day at the Lutheran Camp on Lacdackfish Lake with about 1200 attendees. Rev. Baron of Fort Saskatchewan and Rev. Dr. Lucht of Fremont led morning and afternoon services. The Roblin School Band played hymns and afternoon featured recreation and swimming. The camp will run weekly programs starting July 7 for children and youth, contact Rev. Paul Borchardt.

Roblin Agricultural Society finalizes fair day plans for July 14 including ball tournament formats with prize distributions Intermountain Pony League Invitational and pastball events and a band concert set for 4 pm at the fairgrounds. Installation Of New Officers By Roblin Order Of Royal Purple

On Royal Purple Day June 7 Roblin Lodge No 210 hosted a banquet for 45 elderly ladies from Roblin and District at Elis Hall. After supper they were entertained and prizes of dainties and cakes were given. A photo attempt failed. May activities included a district meeting in Dauphin a rummage sale at Elks Hall and donations to the Michelle Kines Fund and Roblin District Hospital. June 1 installation of officers was led by Mildred Dobbin of Dauphin with Pauline Cratch assisting. New officers include Molly Korpan as Honored Royal Lady and Isla Bennett as Chaplain among others.

Manitoba Sets July 3 as Holiday in Centennial Year

Provincial secretary Stewart E. McLean states that a federal proclamation designates July 3, 1967 as a public holiday across Canada. Under Manitoba law the day becomes a holiday. citizens may choose observance per labour agreements, while July 1 remains Dominion Day.
