Health officials report diphtheria in Langlets quarantine area with deaths in one family and cases in Sask and Makarof 8.0 near Togo. Seventeen carriers found in Makarof school. early detection and quarantine urged. Emphasizes sore throat warning signs, transmission by carriers, hygiene and antitoxin if needed. children ages three to ten most at risk.
The Starkweather Concert Band of Starkweather North Dakota will headline the Provincial Exhibition in Brandon. The group now has sixty one players plus four singers with a strong cornet reed harmony and bass balance. Drum major A Kruse stands seven feet five inches in full uniform. A junior section of twenty young conductors, youngest at 19, adds to the lineup. The band has played fairs in North Dakota and is booked for the State Fair at Fargo as well. Visit Brandon from July 1 to 4 to hear this famed ensemble.
Two young women from Gayugs New York seek a Winnipeg Board of Trade inquiry into a winter dog train trip across Manitoba. They request feasibility details and possible arrangements for such an unusual journey.
The Union Church's last Sunday program featured Rev. Robert Harvey addressing the graduating class of the High School. Students from Tuimmel Cromarty Riverview Deepdale and Makarait attended as the auditorium overflowed. The Union choir performed well and Principal Everall read Genesis 13, urging graduates to choose worthy paths and honor the Sabbath.
The Roblin Women’s Institute met at Mrs Freeland’s home on June 19. Rain and bad roads reduced turnout and the Provincial Convention report was deferred to August. Delegates reported a worthwhile District Convention. Main business included Cemetery Improvement Day and the annual Child Health Conference at the Fair. No July meeting due to Chautanqua.
Roblin defeated McNutt 9 to 6 in a Saturday night game noted as one of the season’s best. McNutt, with a strong district lineup, saw Lightfoot replaced by Moore in the fifth as Roblin’s bats exploded for four runs in the sixth. Wade Hab Hints’ center fielder Knight Hab made a notable play by chasing a ball into a slough and relay to Stubbs for the out at third.
The Misses Crockshanks of Regina visit Mrs E Furtney while Mrs Geo Ross returns from the States. Local fairs include an auction sale by Cameron next Saturday and a Kamsack baseball win over the town. Decoration Day events planned with Brig General Ross addressing at 3 p.m. A gathering honored Mr and Mrs Cameron before their move to Seattle with a 600 game and Kodak gift.

An accident last week left Steve Steba dragged under a scraper by frightened dogs. injuries not detailed.
Mr Nelson loses a valuable horse on Monday. Visitors from Togo and Kam sack stay over weekend. Miss Rosie Dixon and Lawrence McGuire visit. Grace Walter and Mar and Hee depart for trades. A church service is planned Sunday at 9 p.m. Everybody welcome. Silverwood Farmers Union Picnic set for July 1 at A McGuire's farm one mile west of Silverwood school with a baseball draw at 2 p.m. Football goods and pony races noted.

Four friends from Pelly visited Mrs W McKnight. The Cricket team held its first practice at Mr Sloan’s. Howard and Verna Wilson return home from Makaroff school for summer holidays. A list of guests includes Map and Mrs McPhail. Mrs Autdison is ill. Mr and Mrs Pearson and Allan Thornton visited with Mr and Mrs Adam Sangster. Baseballers held a meeting with Jim Johnson as President, Franklin Basso Secretary, Willis Armstead Captain. Practice set for Tuesdays and Thursdays on the old grounds. Sunday school attendance was 43. Charlie Burrell fell into the creek but recovered after an impromptu bath. Certificates were awarded for reciting the Ten Commandments. Pastor asks everyone to attend church on June 29.
A Vancouver wedding last Wednesday united Mrs. Maybelle Irene Hartford of Edmonton and Mr. Ebes Chester Murray, formerly of the First Canadian and Third Siege Artillery, with Rev. A D McKenzie presiding at St Johns Presbyterian. Attendants included Mrs. Whitchelo, Phyllis Whitchelo, and Misses E and J Sinclair with ring bearer Donald Hartford. the bride wore dark silk crepe georgette, mink stole, and lilac rose corsage.
The couple celebrated with a ceremony attended by twenty two guests at the Ambassador hotel reception. Gifts included a beaded bag for the matron of honor and pearls for the flower girl, gold cuff links for the best man, and a cheque from the bride’s parents. A liver mahogany mantle clock from the Vancouver post office staff and a baby grand piano will be given when they move to their new home at 1938 Wolf Street. The bride wore a tricoline suit with matching blouse and hat for travel.

The Church of England announces Mr Af Mass will conduct services on Sunday June 29 at Lina Roblin Matting and Litany with childress eight p.m. Silverwood Evensong and Sermon.
