Treaties education session at Riding Mountain Park
RMNP staff joined with the Coalition of First Nations with Interests in Riding Mountain and the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba on June 17 for a learning partnership. The aim is to deepen understanding of Treaties 1 through 11, their significance to Canada and to First Nations future plans, and to foster stronger relations for future projects. Dwayne Blackbird called it the first sharing relationship and stressed honoring the obligation to Treaty. The coalition represents multiple First Nations including Keeseekoowenin, Ebb and Flow, Tootina Uziibeeng, Gambler, Rolling River, Waywayseecappo, and Sandy Bay, while the TRCM serves to strengthen Treaty relations with mutual respect.
