By laws authorize sale of SW 15 27 28 to Earl Daniel McIntyre for 200, grants total 200 to Salvation Army Grace Hospital and war work, and settlement 152 for NE 26 28 28 with road diversion. Old Age Pension applications approved for Sutherlands and Taylor. Accounts approved including hospital aid and general expenditures.

Local visits and church service mark the weekend
Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Lee family visited relatives at Gilbert Plains on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Currey and Anna visited relatives at Roblin Sunday. Mrs. E. McGregor returned after weeks with her mother at Gilbert Plains. Mrs. Wm. Pound returned from Toronto. Albert Boyce and Mrs. W. Joyner arrived home from the City. A Sunday service conducted by Rev. Ellison saw three children christened. Friends gathered at the Spear home to honor daughter-in-law Mrs. Leslie Spear recently arrived in Winnipeg V. E. Day from Dublin. Beryle Beattie and Raymond Rogers led the bride to gifts.

Merridale Picnic Set for June Twenty Ninth
The annual Merridale school picnic will be held June 29 starting at 1 30 with sports racing and jumps and prizes. A dance will follow at night. Local figures include Michael Midzain receiving the Governor General medal and Bert Cockerill the veteran hunter still active near retirement.

Mr and Mrs L Lietz visited Dauphin with Mr and Mrs Laird and Mr and Mrs Fraser. Mrs S Simpson and son Gordon plan a Stonewall holiday. F O Arnold and Mrs McDuffe and son Brian from Milton Ont stayed with the McDuffes. McDuffe now serves as Rivers test pilot. The Women Institute held a June meeting at Mrs F Thompson’s home with strong attendance. The July session will be hosted by Mrs Fraser with each member inviting a grandmother.

Alfred Scrimshaw Rites Held in Roblin for 78 Year Old
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Knox United Church Roblin for Alfred Scrimshaw aged 78 years 10 months who died in Dauphin on June 13 1945. Rev H V Ellison officiated with interment in Roblin Cemetery pallbearers were Thos Kelso T A Cameron F Belcher A T Kines J Adam H C Cranwell. He was born in England 1866 and lived in Canada since 1903 later farming near Roblin and retiring to Makiniak. Survived by three sons Alfred Herbert Ernest two daughters Mrs Arthur Weller and Mrs Ada Labuke, twenty two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
