Manitoba Finds First West Nile Virus Mosquitoes in 2006
Manitoba Health reports the first detected Culex tarsalis samples infected with West Nile virus in 2006, identified in Steinbach during the week of June 4. Low adult mosquito activity noted. larval surveillance shows more Culex tarsalis larvae in southern communities and larviciding advised. Public updates planned through summer with risk considered very low.
