A collection of aphorisms on truth and justice from Demos, Robertson, Mary Baker Eddy, Colton and others. The quotes praise truth as life and being, warn against prejudice, and note truth’s timeless, patient nature against haste and deceit.
The Roblin district reports contributions to the Red Cross drive from multiple points. Total shown is 1859 dollars and 79 cents with 1677 dollars 24 cents from district entries and 182 dollars 55 cents from the Makaroff collections. Praise is given to the canvassers for their work.
The Roblin school held an outstanding display on Saturday June 6 showcasing year projects. Girls from Grades VII to XI modeled garments while woodworking groups under A Kerney showed nearly 200 items. Miss E Leach directed the sewing and crafts with notable rug and cafghan work by Miss Ashley's class. Tea funded a $12.26 Red Cross donation.
The Handicraft Exhibition at Northcliffe School in the Ukrainian Orthodox hall on May 25 showcased student exhibits and talks by Inspector Day and Mrs C Brydon. The Orthodox executive donated hall use and proceeds totaled 56.20 dollars.
Roblin and district report twenty six men volunteering for active army service since the first of the year up to June 1. This adds to Air Force Navy and draftees. A T Kimes is the recruiting representative.
Group Captain D C M Hume announces updated Air Cadet syllabus aligning with RCAF standards. New topics include Air Navigation Meteorology Hygiene and anti gas training with a 58 hour air navigation course raising total instruction to 288 hours. School based cadet work earns training credit and non school squadrons may finish in two years. Canada Air Cadet League enrolled 15 000 boys in first year with 40 000 expected next year.
