The Mountain View School Division outlines a pathway to success with a plan to create seven K 8 community schools and reduce high schools to broaden programs. Trustees stress community rights to early education and invite fall public consultations to discuss possible amalgamation and future options.
The Park West School Division trustees plan public meetings to discuss restructuring in all communities with schools. A restructuring plan is to be formulated by June 2007. Good news for Boissevain residents as two doctors will practice locally by June 5 with Dr Bhahnavardi joining, raising physician numbers to two, plus a contract with Brandon medical student Rikki Yahiro.
The town of Neepawa plans tipping fees for sewage dumped in its lagoon. Residential inside town limits would pay 25 dollars, commercial inside town limits 250 dollars yearly, while outside limits 75 dollars per load or 250 yearly. Commercial outside limits 75 dollars per load or 500 yearly. The PUB will review the proposal in a forthcoming paper.
Grandview Maroons pitcher Frank Watkins, a key 1952 NW League champion, is inducted June 3 into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. He once pitched 15 innings and singled home the winning run in a 2-1 seventh game victory over Elmwood Giants before 5,200 fans at Kinsmen Stadium in 1949.

Gaia Power Inc. is assessing a viable wind power project in the RM of Argyle. A 180 foot wind measuring tower has been erected and background engineering work is underway to evaluate feasibility. Gaia Power previously won a wind project near Moosomin.
