A breezy call to host a blood donor party as a frugal summer alternative. It suggests staying home saves money and frees time for repairs, visits, reading, and a trip to the local blood donor clinic, noting 350 000 people need blood annually.
A persuasive appeal urges more people to donate blood this summer. It notes only six percent currently give, urges making a group donation with friends, and promises attention and a sticker reading Be nice to me I gave blood as a social incentive.
Cail foie Mr. Larry Styba and son Larry of Pitt Meadows B C visit the home of Mr A Styba and his siblings. Mary Sawatzky returns from Flin Flon to Grand Centre Alta for a golden wedding anniversary of John and Mrs Sawatzky. She then visits Dawson Creek and Saskatoon en route home to see Friesen kin and a great niece.
The Tummel Church marked its ninetieth anniversary with a large out of town attendance. Guests hailed from Winnipeg Brandon Russell Inglis Morden Yorkton Shellmouth Saskatoon Dropmore Armstrong Sidney and more. Local seniors listed as attendees include Oscar Mickelson Harriet Robin Gay Mitchell H R Mitchell Jim Kines Bruce Flossie Alexander Isabel Alexander and Robert Arnott.
Ruth Purdy of Silverton, Man won the P. J. Gaber and Sons Trophy for the Fair Parade. Roblin Truck Service took the Comic Float trophy, Heming's Jewellery awarded. United Church Sunday School earned Best Group Float and Bank of Montreal trophy with a tie resolved by draw. Macleods won Best Commercial Float with Royal Bank trophy. Bank of Montreal Float honorable mention. Dauphin Shrine Club led Best Out of Town Float, Len Shiner won Best Decoated Tricycle, Darrel Lee Ballard Best Decorated Bicycle with Roblin trophies. Judges were Mrs Winnie de Groot, Mrs Doris Waters, Mrs Alma Carnochan, and Mr Mickey Syke. They noted close scores and spacing issues on the parade route.
Boy Scouts guided by Mr and Mrs Al Bernard cooked piping hot pancakes at Heming's Jewellery booth. On Monday evening Gourmet Pizza hosted a well attended street dance with live music keeping the crowd moving in front of the restaurant.
Mr Colin Arnott traveled by bus last week to Fort Saskatchewan for a two week vacation with his sister Isabel and her husband Henery. Congratulations to Karen Koraluk on her marriage this past Saturday July 23. Mr and Mrs Don Smart and Gary camped over the weekend at Madge Lake. Last Friday evening supper guests with Mr and Mrs Pete Beck included Mrs Rose Garland, daughter Carol, and Regina grandchildren.
Over the past two weeks Mr and Mrs Tom Duffy and their daughter Evelyn visited with family from Melfort Sask Gladys and her family from Flin Flon joined. Mr and Mrs Albert Nabe and family camped for three weeks at Madge Lake. Mrs Doug Cockerill and her girls from Lynn Lake holiday with her parents Mr and Mrs James S Arnot t for a couple of weeks.
Roblin Rockettes defeated Calder to take first place and $35. Calder finished second with $20. Other participating girls teams came from Asessippi and Togo.
