Manitoba aims to extend family property rights to common-law partners
Attorney General Gord Mackintosh introduced a bill to recognize property rights and obligations for common-law couples after breakup or death. The measure would amend 56 statutes, grant automatic rights after three years, and create a registry for immediate recognition across same and opposite sex relationships.
