The Roblin Agricultural Society held its 51st Annual Fair on Monday July 8 featuring Mid-West Shows on the midway. Livestock were scarce but the event offered light horses gymkhana events food demonstrations hall exhibits bingo machinery displays band concert and baseball games.
Birthday wishes from the district are extended to Mrs. Wilson Sr. on her 87th birthday, July 13th. Mr. and Mrs. Art Flath of Holberg are visiting with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ronny Pister. Messages from the Melnicks of The Pas and visiting relatives are noted.

The Roblin Horticultural Society held a Peony Rose and Pansy Show and Bake Sale on Saturday July 6. Prizes went to Mrs. Ethel Mitchell Mrs. Gladys McLeod and others for various peony categories. The next gathering is a picnic at Intermountain School at 3 30 with the Social Committee arranging food.
The Kinsmen Club sponsors a Beach Walkathon to raise funds for Roblin Park and Beach Project. Local figures like Cst. Juba Willie Nash Morgan Kelso Harold Keast and Sam Robinson plan to walk with sponsors per mile. Entry forms available at the Credit Union Macleods and the Co op Store.
Ag reps report hay scarcity in Roblin area forcing farmers to seek supplies beyond the district. Premier Weir says names should be left at the Ag Rep Office for additional hay requests and notes no provincial aid plans yet. Also: Manitoba Agriculture yearbook available at the Ag Office with production trends and statistics. Spider mites threaten trees and shrubs with guidance to use Kelthane spray. 4-H Woodworking club achievement noted at Community Hall on July 16. David Belcher wins Champion, Earl Chase Reserve Champion, Art Lovas praised.

The city offers a Summer Recreation Program with morning crafts at Memorial Hall at 9 30 and an afternoon games schedule at the Intermediate School for children aged 4 12. The Teen Council held a car wash last Saturday to fund a future event, with thanks to supporters including Mr Art Currey. Visitors from multiple Manitoba clubs attended Roblin Gun Club last Thursday. Scores highlighted by Brian Harvey and Tom Flett tying with 24 hits, while Lloyd Ash and Brent Lees posted 23 and 22 respectively. Ladies also participated with Bertha Davis and Eva Allanson among top shooters.
During the forthcoming postal strike no mail will be received dispatched or pass through larger offices Roblin Post Office will be open for business as usual and will accept mail for local delivery As soon as transportation routes are established mail will be accepted for many of the smaller surrounding Post Offices
Exams conducted June 20 by Dr Filmore Hubble of the University of Manitoba School of Music. Successful candidates include Grade I Honors Lee Gaber Karen Ziolkoski Joan Ann Bork and many others across grades I to IX with top Theory results Brian Perchaluk first class honors 98 percent and Marcia Lebedovich 99 percent.
The Community Centre officially opened on June 28 1968 with a turkey supper for 150 guests. Reeve John Perchaluk praised the project while Jack Poucher cut the ribbon. Local residents Harold Belcher Frank Bailes Sr Ernie Atkinson Jim Ready and Jack Poucher attended. Two hostess chairs were given to Ernie Atkinson and Fred Kuenstner in recognition of their service.
The Rev E S Dixon officiated a May 25 Roblin ceremony uniting Jill Frances Markosky and Robert Stafford Cross in a Knox United Church double ring wedding. A 300 guest reception followed with a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Hall dance and a Jamaica honeymoon.
