Manitoba Hydro Grand Rapids trip inspires awe at power project
Nineteen Manitoba weekly press representatives fly to Grand Rapids Saskatchewan River site aboard a Trans-Ag charter to view the hydroelectric project. They tour the forebay, dams, and powerhouse, noting the 450,000 horsepower goal, massive earth and rockwork, and plans for a fourth generator unit. The visit underscores public investment of about 140 million and the promise of future power for the province.
