Roblin District Hospital Set to Open on July 19

Ceremonies mark the official opening of Roblin District Hospital with public inspection and speeches by local and Health Department officials. Stores will close 2 to 4 p.m. for the event and a ribbon cutting will inaugurate the new facility followed by tea on the grounds.

Celebrate Twenty Fifth Wedding Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Douse

Mr and Mrs N Douse celebrate their twenty fifth wedding anniversary at their home on July 1. He came to Canada in 1911 and after a mill accident lost his right arm, later farming on a Hillsburg homestead. They married in 1925 at the Keating home near Roblin and have two children. Community congratulations pour in.

Wheat Headed Here Signals Strong Local Harvest

Henry Zorn brought in the first heads of Thatcher wheat on July 11. Despite a late spring, the district expects one of the best crops in years with visitors noting the exceptional quality. Fields here lead Nee Paw a and southern areas by about a week to ten days.

Rummage Sale Nets $119 For H.A.

The Hospital Aid met on July 4 and planned tea for Hospital Day. The rummage sale netted $119.17 largely from auctioneer Dick Bogle who donated his time. Donations to the Pantry Shower now go to the Hospital. next meeting is August 1 at the hospital.

Roblin Baseball Sprints, Poor Banana Peel Warns Town

Roblin's week featured wins over Dauphin Grandview and Neepawa with a Thursday loss to Dauphin in Swan River finals. Mrs Geo Snowdon suffered a fall on Roblin Main Street after stepping on a banana peel left on the sidewalk. The piece urges caution and disposal of banana peels.

Planned Operations Boost Turnover At Roblin Co-op

Roblin Consumers Co-operative Ltd reported a threefold sales rise and quadrupled savings over two years after a four year education program. For 1949-50 sales reached $116,971.93 with $5,921.75 in savings amid 40 new members and active member education by manager J B Arnott and guest speaker J J Siemens.

Stella stayed a few days.
