NTA Cuts Grain Freight Rates Instead Of Raising Them
The National Transportation Agency lowers grain freight increases and may save farmers about 300 dollars per year. The decision revises 1988 base costs to include current costs and anticipated productivity gains. CN plans an appeal arguing costs must reflect current conditions, not future gains. Manitoba minister Albert Driedger welcomes the ruling saying producers should not pay for unincurred costs.
