Three years ago on January 26 1945 the 10th Infantry Brigade of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division attacked German forces on an island in the Maas River at Kapelsche Veer Holland. The Lincoln and Welland Regiment Allgonquin Regiment Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada Lake Superior Regiment and artillery fought in mud snow and icy water for five days ending January 31 with heavy casualties. 135 enemy dead were counted and about 65 wounded evacuated while only 35 were captured.

At a Roblin and District Teachers meeting held Saturday January 24 officers were elected to form a local Manitoba Teachers' Society. President L J Spear Vice President Bugera Secretary J Schwalm and board members Mihychuk J Kelso J Johnson J Mitchell. The next meeting is February 7 at 2 PM in Roblin Collegiate. Submissions on problems and the salary schedule will be discussed.
A local alderman and Mrs B- plan to receive friends at their home this Saturday from three o clock until six. The notice invites neighbors and acquaintances to call in for tea and light refreshments.
