A crane efficiently positioned three new grain bins on their supports for Manitoba Pool’s expansion. Work began Wednesday and wrapped up by the weekend.
At the January RM of Hillsburg meeting Sgt. Bob Brakefield Moore of Roblin RCMP outlined a plan to revive a rural crime watch to curb rising break ins and thefts. He cited break ins rising from five to nine in 1991 and thefts under 1000 dollars, mainly gas, increasing from seven to 17, noting organized groups from Manitoba and Saskatchewan. A spring crime watch meeting is planned. the RM also discussed ambulance grant, rates for machinery and fence moving, and council indemnities.
Lloyd Pierce of Roblin Economic Development outlines a community round table to create an action plan for sustainable development. Taute and local groups pushed for immediate, collaborative action, noting the effort began last summer and sought broad municipal and organizational engagement.
A small group of 25 people approves forming a round table after a brief discussion. Pierce notes a shared momentum and Taute stresses that substantial work, dedication, and commitment will be required to move the effort forward.
