A colourful hour of entertainment for 200 children and parents at Roblin Elementary School featured Prairie Theatre Exchange presenting You Can Do It In You’re written by David Gillies. The show, based on Fred Penner’s music and characters, toured Manitoba for two and a half months, supported by the Manitoba Teachers Society and Chevron Canada Resources Limited. The four member cast played neighbourhood friends with energy while children joined in near the end.
The Four Annual Lions Journey for Light snowmobile trek runs January 26-28, 1989 from The Pas to Winnipeg to raise funds for Manitoba's eye bank. About 30 riders and crews expect to collect pledges for corneal transplant and eye donor awareness programs, with the Telethon on January 29. Proceeds fund eye bank work and donor awareness, with this year’s route expanding to Brandon-Neepawa.
