Bill De La Mare found a natural cross formed by intertwined poplar roots while clearing land about 30 years ago. He left it in clay and plans to varnish nothing, displaying the eight to ten inch cross at the Review office for the next few weeks.
The Fifth Annual Swan River Elks Country Talent Show runs six weeks from February with four regular shows on Feb 10 17 24 and March 3 a semi final on March 10 and a final on March 17 at the Swan River Elks Hall Judges pick two contestants from each regular show and five of eight semi finalists advance to the final for a $1000 prize. Murray James sued the Town of Russell after the town seized impounded and destroyed his dogs without warning or investigation. A judge found for James with a $6380 award, rejecting a malice defense. the town plans an appeal.
The Dauphin Herald reports the Dauphin Regional Health Centre CT scanner has run below capacity due to the absence of a radiologist for six to eight weeks. PRHA CEO Andre Remillard says itinerant support from Landon and Winnipeg helped but local demand, especially dye injections, could not be fully met. Recruitment is underway for a second radiologist.
