Premier starts Manitoba wind farm turbines near St Joseph
Premier Greg Selinger unveiled the first turbines at Manitoba’s 138-megawatt St Joseph wind farm south of Winnipeg on January 11. The project, result of a Manitoba Hydro and Pattern Energy 27 year power purchase deal, costs about 345 million with 38 million to landholders. It spans 125 square kilometres and aims to cut greenhouse gases by over 350000 tonnes annually.

Power line debate over Bipole III routing and costs
A letter argues Bipole III must connect directly to a converter east of Winnipeg to become AC for markets. It claims Saskatchewan and Manitoba need two additional west-side converters, cites costs near 1 billion, and urges Manitoba voters to pressure Premier Selinger and the NDP to choose an east-side route and limit debt.
