Sewing drapes can cut costs by about half and people with sewing skills can make their own. Drapes should run ceiling to floor or window top to floor, or top to frame bottom. The Canadian Wheat Board released its 1978 contracting plan highlighting Glenlea wheat and Klages barley acreage. It aims to contract 1–2 million acres of Glenlea with a 22 bushel per acre guarantee and 50–300 acre minimums for producers. Klages barley contracts rise to 250,000 acres with 60 bushels per acre guarantees and carrot delivery for selected stock. A small trial for two experimental wheats N B 320 and N B 112 is planned.
A couple marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with money from friends and neighbors. Their children and relatives sent calls, flowers, and gifts. Joseph Paul Perchaluk aged 22 and his sister Janice Yvonne Perchaluk aged 21 of Winnipeg Manitoba died in a highway crash near Roblin on January 3 1978. Funeral held January 6 at St Johns Ukrainian Orthodox Church Roblin with Rev I Trufyn officiating. Interment at Parish Cemetery.
