Holiday Checkstops Keep RCMP Busy Due to Impaired Driving
Week three of the RCMP Holiday-Checkstop program saw 2,863 vehicles checked with 18 impaired driving charges and 13 other impaired related charges. The report notes a 0.205 average BAC and a high of 0.390 from a snowmobile driver near Nelson House, plus 73 warnings and one traffic fatality. Five drug seizures and a Canada Wide immigration warrant were also reported. RCMP conducted 91 check stops, 2,542 vehicles checked, and 35 Criminal Code charges last year at week three.
