Seed purity study urges certified stock for Manitoba farms

Analyses at Branden Experimental Park last summer show only 90 percent of farmers grew pure or varietal seed. 69 percent were badly mixed and 31 percent only fair. Due to stem rust and other injury 1935 seed is inferior, forcing some farmers to buy seed. Recommendation: secure registered or certified seed, establish a seed plot, and build a pure seed foundation for the farm in two years.
