William Grassie aged seventy died at his farm home near Roblin following pneumonia. Born in Seaforth Ontario, he lived across Manitoba including Portage la Prairie Neepawa Grandstone and Roblin. Survived by widow five daughters and six brothers. Funeral held Tuesday at his residence with Rev. Robert Harvey. interment at Roblin Cemetery. Women's Institute notes and meeting reports follow.
Bield locals report the school reopening last Tuesday with typical attendance while many district residents are listed as sick. Miss K Smith from Roblin temporarily teaches the junior room as Mr Morre Heatih resumes duties. A social gathering at Roy Chaseles home and news of principal Merrell's slow recovery are noted amid local business changes and staffing rumors.
A whist drive and dance will be held in Silverwood Hall on Friday with valuable prizes for winners. Mr and Mrs Wallace thank friends for kindness after bereavement. A concert by Ladies of the Union Church drew a small crowd due to illness and cold. performances, including a sketch and singing, were enjoyed and requested for a repeat.
The Roblin Curling Club wrapped up its week long bonspiel on Friday with Dauphin standout Doe sweeping the field in the premier event. Inglis claimed the AN-Comers title as the Ladies held their annual box social and spiel.
An acrink from the Roblin locals club suffered injuries after a vehicle incident and was taken to Dauphin hospital for treatment on Saturday. The article notes upcoming introductory pieces and forthcoming coverage of frvi organizations in next week’s issue.
