Parkland Regional Badminton Finals declare qualifiers for Manitoba Games

Barry Madill Dies in Roblin Car Crash
Barry Allan Madill aged 35 of Roblin died in a single car collision east of Roblin shortly before 3 45 am Friday February 17. His eastbound vehicle struck a guard rail after which a bus driver en route to Roblin from Dauphin assisted at the scene. The RCMP investigation continues and an autopsy was performed. Madill owned Main Auto Body in Roblin.

Past Noble Grands Raise Funds For Cemetery Fund
The Past Noble Grands Association held a Whist Drive at the Drop-In Centre on February 11, 1978 with 20 tables. It raised 102.25 for the cemetery fund. prize winners included Alice Tummon and Marilyn Worth for ladies, Geo Gove and Connie Fisher for gentlemen, with travelling prizes to Jennie Mortemore and Tom Aitken.

February 14 to 18 events opened with Intermountain Pelly Trail vs Dauphin Ochre open hockey ending 11-6. Dauphin Ochre won 6-3 in junior play on February 17. Local musher wins dog race in Manitoba festival
Mr and Mrs Robert Andrews of Roblin travelled to The Pas Manitoba this past week where Robert entered the Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival Freight Race. The 15 mile event required five dogs pulling 200 pounds. He completed the course in 1 hour 15 minutes.

Finalists Clocked In At Cross Country Skiing Final
The Parkland Regional Winter Games cross country event at Nature Trails north of Boggy Creek Sunday February 19 saw six girls in a 5 km race. Shirley Carson of Ochre River led with 32 47.5, Marilyn McSporran of Dauphin placed second in 38 23.6, Edie Russett of Boggy Creek third at 39 13.8, Linda Bicknell of Duck Bay fourth at 40 20.7, then Stella Peterski of Roblin 46 17.4 and Mary Danyluk 49 25.5.
