Deepdale church services move to the schoolhouse for cold weather. Mrs Fraser hosted tea for Mrs Walton's town farewell. Ladies Aid Society meets February 10 for annual officer elections. A circulating library arrives with librarian Mrs Pletcher. Masquerade dance hosted by Robbin band on February 13. About eighty guests attended a surprise party for T L Dillin. Mr A McKensin, G O of the B P O of R, visited Roblin to promote an Elks Lodge. he returns around February 17.
Mr Hoey ex M P spoke to a Farmers Union meeting in the High School auditorium last Thursday night. He praised cooperative marketing, cited Rochdale’s 1844 movement, and urged farmer organization to cut middlemen. The Wheat Pool was highlighted for stabilizing grain prices and lowering rates, with Mr Thomas Davidson of Silverwood as chairman.
The Anglican Ladies Aid hosts a Valentine tea and home cooking sale at Dunlop Bro's Store on Saturday February 13 with donations welcomed. Union Ladies Aid presents an old fashioned concert at Oddfellow's Hall Saturday February 20 at 8 p.m. Admission 25c or 15c. G W V A meets February 22 at 8 p.m. War films shown featuring Canadians at Courcelette Vimy Arras and other offensives. admission 86c and 20c.
Rev. Robert Harvey presents “An Ancient Injunction” with topics including Tummer and Cromarty. Children hear “My Captain” and “The deadly Trifle.” Roblin speaks on “The King of Service” and the final address in the Revelations series closes the program.
The Ladies Aid Society held a February meeting at Mrs Boyce's home with plans for a Valentine Social on February 13 at the Hall. Members discussed mission work, mite boxes, and a talk by Mrs Rayner on mission topics. A pantomime titled Searching for the King impressed attendees, led by Mr Rayner. The Women’s Institute met at Mrs J Beattie’s with debate on capital punishment, and preparations for Boys and Girls Club prizes. A Tony the Convict play was planned for early March. The next meetings were scheduled for March 9 and a Valentine's Hard Times dance on February 12. The Boys and Girls Club held its February 2 reunion in the FOM Hall, with Mr A Sangster presiding and prize list discussions. Verna Wilson and her brother Orville spoke about a trip to Winnipeg for prize events, and Wilson received the Koony Cup. Officers elected included President J H Wilson, Vice President J F Basso, Secretary J Handley, and Treasurer J B Pitfield. Project Leaders were named for Livestock, Farm Mechanics, Gardening, Sewing, Cooking and Canning.
