Mr Hoey Addresses Farmers on Wheat Pool at High School

Mr Hoey ex M P spoke to a Farmers Union meeting in the High School auditorium last Thursday night. He praised cooperative marketing, cited Rochdale’s 1844 movement, and urged farmer organization to cut middlemen. The Wheat Pool was highlighted for stabilizing grain prices and lowering rates, with Mr Thomas Davidson of Silverwood as chairman.

Ladies Aid Society Activities and Upcoming Events

The Ladies Aid Society held a February meeting at Mrs Boyce's home with plans for a Valentine Social on February 13 at the Hall. Members discussed mission work, mite boxes, and a talk by Mrs Rayner on mission topics. A pantomime titled Searching for the King impressed attendees, led by Mr Rayner. The Women’s Institute met at Mrs J Beattie’s with debate on capital punishment, and preparations for Boys and Girls Club prizes. A Tony the Convict play was planned for early March. The next meetings were scheduled for March 9 and a Valentine's Hard Times dance on February 12. The Boys and Girls Club held its February 2 reunion in the FOM Hall, with Mr A Sangster presiding and prize list discussions. Verna Wilson and her brother Orville spoke about a trip to Winnipeg for prize events, and Wilson received the Koony Cup. Officers elected included President J H Wilson, Vice President J F Basso, Secretary J Handley, and Treasurer J B Pitfield. Project Leaders were named for Livestock, Farm Mechanics, Gardening, Sewing, Cooking and Canning.
