Winnipeg man fined for insurance fraud defrauding MPI
Douglas St. Godard a 61 year old Winnipeg man was fined 15000 and ordered to pay 25000 restitution to Manitoba Public Insurance after pleading guilty to fraud over 5000. An MPI SIU investigation showed he worked as a property manager and land developer while collecting MPI income replacement payments. He filed an MPI injury claim in January 1996 after a rear end crash and later drew social assistance. Charges were laid in June 2000 based on discrepancies found on his file.
