The Music of Christmas Cantata at Knox United Church

The Knox United Church choir directed by Douglas R Watson presents The Music of Christmas a cantata to be sung at Tummel and Roblin United Churches 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. This program includes carols and a film of favorite carols with two dimensional animation prior to the cantata presentation. The order features Prologue Along the Christmas Road Holy Night O Little Town of Bethlehem Good Tidings Glory to God The Magi Little Lord Jesus The Living Song Come early and join the congregation for the Christmas observance.

Miss Ruth Eveling aged 80 from Winnersh Berkshire has spent 30 years dressing 3,000 dolls and giving them as Christmas gifts to London’s poorer children. Despite failing eyesight she works long hours to make more dolls this Christmas, earning the nickname Mrs. Santa Claus from many families.

Rochedale Ladies Club Holds Annual Meeting

The Rochedale Ladies Club met at Mrs. F. L. Skinner's home on Thursday afternoon December 2 with good attendance. After singing Jingle Bells and a gift exchange, minutes and correspondence were read. Officers elected for the coming year included President A. Craig and Vice President Mass Clem Robertson, Secretary Treasurer Mrs. Ben Cameron, and committee members. The meeting adjourned with lunch and a social half hour.

Manitoba Vehicle Registration Opens For 1949

Registration of motor vehicles in Manitoba for 1949 began December 15. Registrar R. B. Baillie says a small aluminum plate bearing the figure 49 will replace a new license plate. The disc covers the 48 figure on the old plate and nuts and bolts are supplied by the Registrar's office. Presenting the 1948 Registration Card is required at registration time.

Norway Presents Giant Christmas Tree to Britain

Last year a giant tree from Norway drew crowds in Trafalgar Square beside Nelson Column. This year two London boys visit Oslo to pick a 60foot pine from a nearby forest, to be shipped to England on December 18 and erected in the same spot for Christmas celebrations.
