USC Drive Against Fraud Shows Rising Overpayments
The unemployment insurance drive against fraud, led by Chief Commissioner J M De Roches, shows rising investigations and detected overpayments. From April 1 to July 31, 1968, 47 623 investigations yielded $413 908 in overpayments, up from 1967. July 1968 regional totals and a trend toward harsher penalties mark a broader tightening of controls.
