Manitoba urges CRTC to set province wide CANCOM rate
Manitoba Minister Al Mackling urged the CRTC to require CANCOM to offer a single province wide rate for satellite services to Manitoba rural and remote systems. He cited unequal costs and suggested a 16 to 26 cent per channel disparity, noting northern subscribers pay far more than urban Winnipeg systems. He argued a province wide rate would lower rural bills by 36 to 60 dollars per year and boost CANCOM demand.
